History

“To be a light to the nations in Hanoi and beyond.” (Missions Statement)

Hanoi International Fellowship first began as a small bible study back in 1995 from which sprang the idea of providing a more evangelical worship service and fellowship for expats in Hanoi. It began with about a dozen people and has blossomed today, 15 years later, into a service and community of about 300 adults.

From the very beginning, HIF’s founders have sought to be certain our identity and purpose were firmly rooted in the Bible and not in any denominational or national culture. This remains a core value of HIF.

We have always been highly international and transient and have employed a team-oriented approach to leadership since the early days. For the most part, HIF members have rotated through teaching responsibilities, leading worship, helping with the children’s ministry, hosting small groups, planning events, organizing outreach activities, providing pastoral care and supporting all with prayer.
